❄️ ICE AGE — In Time-- Full Lesson

(Description)
The Ice Age was a long period in Earth’s history when global temperatures dropped and massive ice sheets spread across continents. Instead of one continuous freeze, it unfolded in repeating cycles of extreme cold called glacials and warmer intervals called interglacials. The most recent major Ice Age began about 2.6 million years ago and lasted until roughly 11,700 years ago, shaping the world humans eventually inherited.During the coldest phases, temperatures fell dramatically, and ice covered large parts of North America, Europe, and Asia. These enormous glaciers carved valleys, flattened mountains, and lowered sea levels enough to expose land bridges between continents. Life adapted to the harsh climate, with woolly mammoths, saber‑toothed cats, and giant ground sloths roaming the frozen landscapes. Early humans survived by migrating, developing new tools, and learning to endure extreme environments.Scientists believe Ice Age cycles were driven by changes in Earth’s orbit and tilt, shifting tectonic plates, and feedback loops where expanding ice reflected sunlight and cooled the planet even further. Although the last glacial period ended thousands of years ago, Earth still technically remains in an ice age because permanent ice sheets continue to exist in Greenland and Antarctica.
